Professor Adrian Lim, MD, FRCP, FRCR

Professor Adrian Lim trained in Radiology at the Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals, London from 1997-2002 and obtained a doctorate in the utility of microbubble ultrasound and use of MR spectroscopy. He was appointed a Consultant Radiologist in the same departments in 2003 and simultaneously held an honorary Senior Lecturer’s position at Imperial College London. In 2010, he was promoted to Reader in Radiology, adjunct Professor in 2013 and conferred Professor in 2017.

Adrian is head of ultrasound at Charing Cross Hospital, London and specialist areas include advancing technologies of ultrasound and use of novel techniques in functionally assessing disease processes with particular respect to breast, liver, oncological and musculoskeletal imaging.

He has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and recently co-authored a textbook on “Liver Ultrasound: From basics to Advanced Applications”.

He is an editor of the European Journal of Ultrasound and Ultrasound International Open Journal as well as an associate editor of Clinical Radiology and Ultrasound journals. He is the immediate Past-President of the British Medical Ultrasound Society and President Elect of EFSUMB.

Lisa Hackett, MSc, FASA, AMSASAR

Lisa Hackett is a qualified radiographer and sonographer, is a PhD candidate (Medicine) UNSW, holds a Master’s degree (Medicine)UNSW, a Fellowship of Ultrasound(ASA) and is an accredited medical sonographer (AMS,ASAR).  She has been actively involved in MSK ultrasound since 1993.

She began her career in Sydney working with hand surgeons and was a pioneer in the establishment of MSK ultrasound and protocols n Sports Medicine imaging and research. She now works in the field of Orthopaedics, Sports medicine, Rheumatology, Fertility and Facial Aesthetics ultrasound.

She is an experienced, passionate and well-respected educator and mentor in MSK ultrasound and facial aesthetics presents both Nationally and Internationally. Lisa facilitates introductory and advanced facial ultrasound educational courses for injectors in aesthetics.

She is actively involved in research and has presented her work at the American Academy Orthopeadic Surgery(2015) and Orthopeadic Research Society (2016) meetings where she presented “Are the symptoms of Calcific tendonitis due to neoinnervation and/or neovascularization” and this work was published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery with commentary (Feb 2016) and most recently her work on “Reliability of shearwave elastography to assess the supraspinatus tendon: An intra and inter-rater in vivo study”, was published in the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (2020). More recently she presented her research using “shearwave elastography ” at the American Academy of Orthopeadic Surgeons in San Francisco and showcasing facial ultrasound at Cosmedicon, Sydney (2023,2024).  

She has published over 55 peer reviewed papers both as primary author and co-author. Lisa is on the AJUM (Australian Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine) editorial board as an Associate Editor. She has been the recipient of the ASA “Sonographer of the Year”, ASA “Educator of the Year” and ASA “Researcher of the Year” 2017 & 2020 respectively.

Dr Mena Ramos, MD

Dr. Mena Ramos is co-founder and co-CEO of Global Ultrasound Institute (GUSI), the world leader in point-of-care ultrasound training and education.

As a physician, entrepreneur, health & medtech consultant, she specializes in healthcare innovation that bridges entrenched silos through meaningful workflow re-engineering with high tech/high touch digital tools to save time, lives, and cost.

Dr. Ramos is a strong advocate for POCUS adoption across the continuum of care with a particular emphasis in primary care and global health.

She co-wrote the original POCUS guidelines for the American Association of Family Practice (AAFP), published on POCUS in the Journal of Family Practice, the textbook Ultrasound for Primary Care, the CAFP journal, and was founding secretary of the AAFP POCUS Member Interest Group.

Dr. Mena Ramos has led POCUS workshops at national conferences including AIUM, AAFP, ACP, STFM, FMEC and WCUME.
Dr. Ramos has served on the boards of several nonprofi t organizations including Cuba Caribe (a performing arts, music and dance company), Women in Medicine (an advocacy group for sexual minority identifying women and gender expansive physicians) and chairs the POCUS Certifi cation Academy Engagement Committee, reflecting commenting to training, standardization and certifi cation in ultrasound worldwide.

Dr. Ramos graduated from medical school at the Latin American School of Medicine in Havana, Cuba, family medicine residency at the Contra Costa Family Medicine Residency, and global health fellowship at UCSF – Contra Costa.

Dr Ritsuko K. Pooh, MD, MSc, PhD, LLB, MBA

Dr Ritsuko K. Pooh, M.D., M.Sc., Ph.D., LL.B., MBA, founded and established the Fetal Diagnostic Center / Fetal Brain Center of CRIFM Prenatal Medical Clinic (https://fetal-medicine-pooh.jp/en/) as the very first expertise in Japan, as well as founded Ritz Medical Clinical Genetic Laboratory in Osaka, Japan. Prof. Pooh also holds the Professorship at several Universities in USA, Japan, Russia, and others. Prof. Pooh established a new field of neurosonogenetics combining sophisticated images of fetal brain by longitudinal transvaginal neurosonography with molecular genetics using next-generation sequencing technology.

Prof. Pooh’s relentless pursuit of knowledge, ground-breaking clinical research, and dedication to collaborative study have solidified her position as a trailblazing pioneer in the field of fetal neuroscience. Her remarkable contributions continue to shape and redefine the understanding of fetal brain development and cortical disorders, leaving an enduring legacy that will inspire generations to come.

Stephen Bird, AMS, AMS (Vascular), DMU, DMU (Vascular), MMedSon

Stephen Bird is a general sonographer living in Adelaide with over 30 years of clinical experience. He holds a General and a Vascular DMU and a Masters of Medical Sonography from the University of South Australia. He is an honorary fellow of ASUM and a life member of the ASA. He is a passionate educator, presenting regularly at national and international conferences as well as conducting weekend workshops for diagnostic medical ultrasound professionals.
